Built On Local Knowledge
Merrick & Thorne was founded in 1987 by Margaret Merrick and Jonathan Thorne, two newly-qualified solicitors who set out to build a firm that treated clients as people, not files. Nearly four decades on, that principle still guides everything we do — from the way we answer the phone to the way we explain a completion statement.
We remain a genuinely independent firm, which means every decision about how we work is made locally, by the people who actually do the work — not dictated by a national head office. Every client gets a named solicitor who knows their matter properly, from first enquiry through to conclusion.
